Ok, okay ... I confess. I'm a graphic designer and as such have allowed work to get the better of me for far too long. I now try to make myself take time
out during the day to go for a walk. Now, remember, I'm 60 going 500, and all this ambulatory stuff is taking some time to get used to again. But I have
noticed that it doesn't take long for my ankles and insteps to start burning and tightening up. I'm guessing that I should be doing some serious
warming up exercises before...

So, when I was almost done with my 8 mile trail walk this morning, I got a very strange pain (I'm not sure that the word pain accurately describes what
this feels like). My hands were swollen and I was wearing rings that usually fit. I wasn't carrying anything in my hands, just wearing a backpack that
was not very heavy at that point because I had drank most of the fluid I brought with me by then.

Suddenly, for no apparent reason, the outer part of my left arm, closer to...

Hi Forum,

New here and wished my first post was really encouraging, but I'm struggling. I started 'power-walking' about a week ago and am suffering badly
with shin splints (pain up and down the front of both shins). It's making me cut my walks short and I am unable to attain my weight-loss training zone.
Reading Lucy Knight's book 'Walking for Weight Loss' she suggests resting and not doing the activity for 2/3 days, but as I am starting out I am...

I am a few weeks into a marathon training program. This week my long walk was 14 miles and I was amazed how well it went. The only real complaint/ache or pain
is my upper back after my training walks. I am trying to build my speed from my normal 3 miles per hour. I am able to do a 15 minute mile pace for four miles
and I did the 14 miles in a little under 16 1/2 minute mile pace. I can't figure out what is causing this ache - posture? arm movement? Any ideas? I have

I have always used ice on localized pain or injuries, but I wondered if there are any true benefits to actually immersing your lower body in cold water.

without stopping and getting off due to pain/numbness. When I purchased my bike, I replaced the seat with one that had more padding because I don't have

My big toe has been bothering me for at least 3 months. I've been able to walk on it no problem, it was just tender to the touch on top/side, but not when

I was just thinking about pain I was having in my outside ankle region while walking rural roads. It wouldn't happen until about 30 minutes into my walk
and always on the foot that was, let's say, towards the gravel side of the road. Well, there is a bit of a slope for run off and this put stress on that
foot that was facing the gravel. I spoke with a runner friend of mine and she suggested an interesting stretching exercise she does.

I began walking again about a month ago and due to previous foot injury and shin splints I stretch about 5 min. every morning before my walk. I walk about a

both on the side of my legs. I have done every stretch I know to do trying to keep this pain away. If I stop it goes away but I don't want to stop. I do

I am new at all this so be gentle with me! I will shortly begin training for a marathon in London but have been told I have pompholyx which is a form of eczma
on my feet. I have three patches of it, one on each of my soles and one just below my left ankle. Apparently there is no cure but it's made worse by
sweating. It gets sore and itchy when I've been for a walk and my feet have got hot and sweaty.
